CWBBA honors Madame N.A. Franklin, founder of Franklin Beauty School and one of the few merchants in Texas to offer black beauty products to Black patrons. She began her vision of a beauty school in 1915, teaching young black women cosmetology in their homes.
In 1935, J.H. and Abby Jemison purchased Franklin Beauty School and ran it successfully for 34 years. Now known as Franklin Institute, the school continues Madame N.A. Franklin's legacy under the direction of the fourth generation, Ron Jemison, Jr., and his wife, Zameika.  View more here
CWBBA honors Ms. Betty Robinson, who has led a not so ordinary life: seizing opportunities and breaking barriers. Retired as a licensed clinical social worker from the VA Medical Center, she is presently working as a volunteer doing social work of the SHAPE Community Center in Houston, TX. View more here.
